Parents who wish their children to start at infant or primary school in September 2012 are being urged to submit their applications before the deadline date in January 15th 2012. The cut off date for both online and paper applications is Sunday January 15th.
At school admissions we know how important it is to get your applications in early to avoid them being marked as later. Applications for primary schools are part of the new admissions scheme being carried out across various councils in England.
Under this one-stop system, parents are asked to submit just one application listing up to six schools in order of preference, which can include schools that are outside their council borough. The council then co-ordinates its offers of school places with other councils ensuring that no one is offered more than one place.
Parents across the England taking part in the new scheme will hear the result of their applications on Wednesday, April 18 2012.
Patricia Walker the cabinet member for children and young people said: “We will always try our best to give children their first choice, but, if this isn’t possible and there are no other preferred schools listed, they may end up with a school that doesn’t suit. Our admissions service is here to help with any last-minute questions you might have about your local schools and on completing the application form. You can also contact schools directly.”
Maria Jones-Fraser states “We recommend that you download the school admissions guide, so you are fully aware of everything you need to put in your application and so you can be sure your child does not miss out on that all important school place.”
